Spirit of the Warrior

Fifty years of martial arts. World championships. A civil war in Moscow. A son brought back from the edge. This is not a story about karate — it’s a story about what forges a man. The Spirit of a Champion is Grand Master Scott McNeely’s life, unfiltered.

About ME

Meet Grand Master Scott McNeely

Grand Master Scott McNeely began his martial arts journey at 15 years old in a small Arkansas town, driven by nothing more than the need to survive a bully. What started as a Taekwondo class at the local YWCA became a 50-year pursuit of mastery, mentorship, and personal transformation. He has trained under world legends, competed across six continents, and built schools from the ground up — starting with $1.87 in earnings on day one.

our Story

Scott's story starts in the mountains of Arkansas and stretches to the Everglades, Athens, Moscow, and beyond. As a young man, he turned a street fight into a calling. He opened his first Taekwondo school at 19, survived a Russian civil war while coaching Team USA, helped co-found the Global Taekwon-Do Federation alongside Grand Master Park Jung Tae, and trained under some of the most respected combat arts instructors in the world. Through decades of competition, coaching, and teaching, he built not just a career — but a legacy.

our mission

Grand Master McNeely's mission has never changed: to pass on the principles forged through five decades of disciplined training perseverance, service, faith, and the relentless pursuit of personal excellence. Through his book, his teachings, and the U.S. Combatives Training Group, he continues to loan others the confidence and strength that his own instructors once gave him.

Spirit of the Warrior

The Spirit of a Champion: The Life and Legacy of Grand Master Scott McNeely is the raw, often hilarious, and deeply human story of a man shaped by five decades on the mat. From a farmboy in Mountain Valley, Arkansas, to a world-stage competitor representing the United States in Greece and Russia — this book doesn’t preach. It shows. It’s filled with stories of brawls, championships, mentors, miracles, close calls, and the kind of wisdom that can only be earned the hard way.

50+ years of real martial arts history — tournaments, world championships, and combat training across six disciplines.

Stories of mentorship, faith, and resilience — from surviving a Russian civil war to performing CPR on his drowning son.

Attribute to the masters, students, and family members who shaped a life built on service and excellence.
